Google is pulling YouTube content on your AdSense platform to get a little more cha-ching outside of the popular video site generated by the user. The ads are opt-in, which means that users will not be disturbed by the videos jumping and running wild -- will have to choose to play them.
Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Presents Ads Video clips YouTube -- What it calls "video units" -- with your AdSense advertising Platform, one of the many steps in a strategy to collect a return on your investment in the video-sharing site.
Select Google is working with partners content on YouTube, including the guide broadband TV, Expert Village, Mondo Media, Lonelygirl15, extreme elements and Ford models to develop Video Offerings.
As with the AdSense ads on YouTube, a video can only be run after a user has clicked on a button of video playback. The announcement then showed as a banner at the top of the video and how complementary text at the bottom.
The videos will be distributed in AdSense for Content and publisher's Web site. Advertisers pay a cost-per-click or cost per impression. AdSense publishers and YouTube content partners will receive a percentage of advertising revenue.
Natural Progression
Google's move is a natural progression for the advertising industry online as the bandwidth continues to expand, Patrick McKenna, CEO of DMi Partners, said to E-Commerce Times."We have gone from banner ads to rich media advertising expandable to rich media advertising -- and now, to video," he said. From that perspective, adding video to advertisers" tool is not particularly innovative -- except for the fact that it is Google that is leveraging its resources in this way.
Even so, there are many different models that the advertising industry online could take in this relatively new space.
"It will be interesting is how and when Google takes the following steps of the stratification of its many tools -- as with the tender technology or the way that determines which ads are suitable for that Web sites -- in a single offer. That, in addition to the construction of an inventory of advertising, some waist are added to this medium," said McKenna.

As Google places video ads will be as important as your decision to offer in the first place, noted Michael Boland, senior analyst with the Kelsey Group."To place these ads on AdSense will provide a much larger scale -- and probably the income -- advertisers that by restricting it to the YouTube platform," he told the E-Commerce Times.
Google is slowing down trying to monetize its massive exploitation of YouTube without alienating the audience of the site, according to Boland.
"One way to do this," he said, "is offering to the ads in the network. I think this will be one of the many ads or Google integrations will make attempts to perform an ROI on YouTube."
