What Is ABOUT TIME! START THIS NOT SO NEW FORM OF BLOGGING BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE! and How Does It Work?
Do you remember the moment you wrote your first post? How good you have felt like your blog was working. Now, if it's been more than a month or two for you, compare your current post with the previous one.
The old sucks! true?
Well, you're not the only one who feels that way, since most of us have gone through a similar experience. Over time, you will notice that blogs give you an incomparable freedom that you do not get in a normal corporate job. It's pretty cool!
Do not you want to keep blogging in the future and be your own boss forever? If your answer is yes, I need your undivided attention.
What I am going to share today we already know, but it is possible that I have not considered it yet.
How many times have you read things like :
'Video' is the future.
The money is in the video advertising.
Facebook gives extra visibility to the videos.
YouTube is still the second most popular search engine in the world.
This is something important that you should know if you are serious about your career as a blogger.
The videos are the next big thing and over time, it will completely change the way we publish our blog. We are already seeing a big change since people start as video bloggers (also known as YouTubers) instead of having a traditional blog.
People who love consuming content, prefer to consume the same piece of content as the video format on their mobile device, tablet or laptop.
Why is this then?
There are several reasons for this and some of the ones I can think of at this moment are:
Advanced tools and software for fast video production
Thanks to advanced technology, creating videos is no longer difficult. The front cameras of smartphones are improving, which facilitates the creation of videos.
Unlike the old days, video editing has become easier. With software such as Camtasia and Final cut pro, we can now edit the videos we want. Even if you find it difficult to use the software, watch a couple of free Final Cut Pro videos on Youtube or free Camtasia tutorials on its official site.
Mobile video editors are also becoming very powerful. Recently, I was playing with some mobile video editors based on iOS and I realized how easy it is to create a professional looking video on the iPhone. Do not believe me Try these mobile apps:
Adobe Clip, AvFx, Adobe Spark video, VSCO.
Improved bandwidth and Internet speed
Do you remember those days when opening a web page used to take minutes?
Yes, that was a nuisance. But, these days, websites take a few seconds to load and a slow website could be bad for business. The improved bandwidth has helped considerably to increase video consumption. Also, because smartphones are ubiquitous now and the fact that the screens are smaller helps the case for video consumption.
So, if you are in a niche and your demographic goal is someone with a medium or high-income source, you are probably watching videos through your mobile.
For a few developing countries where users are not accustomed to wearing headphones when traveling, video consumption may not be as high. Still, as I said before, things are catching up.
In summary, video consumption has increased considerably and video production has become easier (both on the desktop and on the mobile). It requires less time and advanced software facilitates the production of your video in a professional manner.
Now, move on to the main theme of this reality check publication for those of you who are producing content only in the text format. Awake!
Again! Do you remember your first blog post?
Just start! You can make mistakes and the start could be as simple as recording your first screencast tutorial (Record the screen of your desktop to explain the operation of a software or a web application).
Oh! And if you are afraid of the quality of your video, here is something you should know:
You will not get better if you do not start somewhere.
Here are some tips to start right now:
You can use Camtasia (Mac + windows) or Screenflow to make a screencast. You can also use your smartphone to share something that is useful to others.
In the coming days, I will share detailed tutorials, tips and ideas to help you create a great video content. But, it would be useful only when you make your first video as soon as possible.
If you created a video after this, share the link in the comments section. Also, for video links posted in the comments section of other users, help them by giving them honest comments to improve their videos. Make sure your comments are supportive and constructive to help the person understand the mistakes (if applicable) and improve.
