If HOW TO CHANGE YOUR FEEDBURNER EMAIL SUBJECT LINE Is So Terrible, Why Don't Statistics Show It?
How to Change your FeedBurner email subject line
I subscribed to some new blogs by email recently. When emails began to arrive with new blog posts, I was surprised to see that they all had the same subject line as the "from" one. In each unique email.
I know it's important to keep your brand in front of people, but both the and the subject can be a bit too much. Do not "expose" your FeedBurner emails to an excessive brand!
When I receive an email with a new blog post, I like to see the title of the blog post immediately, so I know if I've already read the post or not. FeedBurner makes it easy, you just have to know where to look.
Here's how to place the title of the blog post on the subject of your email from FeedBurner:
1. Click on your FeedBurner feed and "Edit feed details ." Choose the "Publicize" tab:
2. Choose "Email Subscriptions" and "Email Mark":
3. In the Subject / Title box of the email, enter:
$ {latestItemTitle}
Check the box "Change theme ." and enter:
"$ {LatestItemTitle}" plus $ {m} more
(or one of the other code combinations supplied by FeedBurner)
4. Press "Save" to update your email topics:
5. Subscribe to your own blog by email so you always know what your readers look like!
More brand options from FeedBurner
Many bloggers have been moving from FeedBurner to FeedBlitz lately, but I'm not ready to pay for FeedBlitz when FeedBurner still works well for me. FeedBurner may not have endless brand options, but FeedBurner is still far superior in brand capabilities to the only other free option (JetPack).
Are you taking advantage of the brand options of FeedBurner?
In the "Email Mark" of "Email Subscriptions," you can include a logo in each email, not to mention the font/color/size style:Under the "Optimize" tab, you can specify an image and a description that will be displayed when people visit your feed address or see it in Google Reader: image
Do you get your own blog posts by email? Does the theme include the title of your last post?
